To go along with a guestposter's troll? Sure.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2019 2:11 pmNo shit. You thought I just made something so specifically stupid up?
It's still more believable than a professional company putting something that dumb on a contract. I mean, the industry does weird, shady shit all the time, sure, but "change 25% of a franchise's backstory" has to be the most bizarre requirement for any TV show ever.
Like, how is any writer supposed to cope with that? I don't even hate Discovery anymore, I just pity the production team now.
The only reason why I'm still cool with the Picard show is that I know Patrick Stewart wouldn't do it if it was too fucked. He's not like Mark Hamill where it's the only notable part in his career and he signs a contract to go along with anything just to appear in the role again, hell, from what I understand he didn't even want to reprise it until recently. They need him much more than he needs them, as is evident by the fact that he's a producer on this thing. So I don't doubt that if they gave him some bullshit, he'd back out and that'd be the end of the show.
I suspect the way this'll turn out is they'll fill their dumbass 25% quota by adding loads of continuity errors like those Generations era costumes that Stewart just wouldn't notice or care about(because there's no way in hell they'd ever try and explain this copyright idiocy to him), but the characterisation and writing are solid.
