Lynch hates explaining shit, yet he's super blunt at the same time.
When something is especially weird, it's so you can't ignore and wonder why, basically having him stand there, pointing a finger and yelling
"This is weird, isn't it? I wonder why that is!"
And sometimes it's just some ol' bullshit.
He really wants most his stuff to be like a dream. As such, some parts will just look and feel like one and make about as much sense, just because he felt like it that day.

Yes, it's massively inventive. Falls off a bit in season 4, but the miniseries salvages the ending.
