Fair enough, you have good points there. I'd be interested in seeing that alternative version and how it compares to the Breaking Bad that we got.

I have my issues with Better Call Saul, but I think the show does a superb job of getting into the heads of these characters and also being consistent about it(unlike the episodic "this week, Tony loves ducks" feel of Sopranos). So my enjoyment mainly comes down to the amount of affection I have for Jimmy, Mike and Kim.

Kim being the most notable, as one of the few genuinely strong female characters on TV, who has 100% earned the attitude she has and doesn't needlessly throw her weight around.

Jimmy and Mike have longevity points, sorta like C-3PO and R2-D2, where the affection comes simply from how long they've been around as characters. In a meta sense, their part in the franchise outlived that of Walt and Jesse and most everybody(I'm not counting Gus, since he's never in a protagonist role). But they're also much more fleshed out now, particularly Jimmy with that storyline about his brother.

And most importantly, even at its most meandering, I've always felt that Better Call Saul is trying to get to something, a tangible endgoal. So all that, plus the fact that the lead isn't a crime boss, is why I can be more forgiving of its slow burn pace. A slow burn is not a bad thing when it feels intentional and leads to greatness.

Now, on the negative side, I will grant you that the show has backpedaled on Jimmy's development more than once in obvious ways that never happened in Breaking Bad, and the narrative device of having him and Mike lead entirely separate storylines(one of which seems to be almost entirely about setting up events in the first show) isn't to its benefit. I'd also much rather that we didn't see Gus again, but focused on other criminals.

Chernobyl (2019)

Not bad. HBO's five-part mini-series on the Chernobyl nuclear accident was surprisingly entertaining and interesting to watch. Of course, a made-up stronk woman had to be included in the story, but that didn't even bother me as the role was played by the lovely Emily Watson and it was nice to see her starring again with Stellan Skarsgård (knowers know). The casting however was far too white. I would have longed for much more diversity in the series, for example, a cowardly and incompetent leader who ran the nuclear power plant could very well have been played by a black woman.

To be serious, the only thing that was clearly wrong with the series was that some estimates of the number of victims from Greenpeace were included in the epilogue. Greenpeace's propaganda has no place in any kind of scientific debate, not even in fictional TV series, some ignorant bastard might even take it serious yet. Also, why supposedly all those people who watched the accident died ('the bridge of death')? Really, all those who watched the accident several miles away supposedly receive a lethal dose of radiation? Ridiculous and unnecessary dramatization.

However, overall the series was very good. An excellent reminder of the shortcomings of socialist societies. Nuclear power is not a threat to humanity, the real threat is the completely rotten model of society (communism) whose tentacles of control and propaganda extend everywhere. Lessons have been learned from Chernobyl and the same hardly happens anymore. But that second (and real) threat, why hasn't anything been learned from it? Why does this ideology still have such great support?

Avoid the new Chucky show

I watched all 7 of those movies and couldn't even finish the pilot episode. It's about cringy smug "artistic" middle-schoolers who struggle to be gay

Avoid the new Chucky show
Too late.

The show overall is a mixed bag. I admire Don Mancini's dedication to continuity, but I find his inability to keep his homosexuality out of this stuff to be nauseating as hell. You would think he would have learned his lesson after Seed of Chucky. Even the studio thought that movie was too gay.
