In the 90s i simply thought that these guys were the superior Limp Bizkit, i didn't know how based they were.

Hi, Phil Collins here. And when I'm in Vice City, I only listen to Flash FM, where pop meets payola. uwu

Everyone knows the best contribution to the Vice City OST comes from Quiet Riot.

Mad niggerish! Let me cleanse the pallet from that kind of entartete Negermusik.

I was looking for more shit like Triumvir Foul (really nasty Cavernous Death Metal) and Ophidian I (Melodic Technical Death Metal).
Not that easy of a task. But I've found a few interesting things.

I don't often post demos here. But Sedimentum really knocked it out of the park!
Especially speeding up at the 3 minute mark does it. Certainly nasty and cavernous as shit!

On the other front, here's something super fast. Ever wonder what Deathklok would be like if they played much faster and were more technical? They would be Archspire.

The type of band to have an 8 string guitar and 6 string bass all hoisted up high and actually being able to play that shit live, yet lacking style so badly that you wouldn't give a shit.
Super odd. This is far out shit that goes hard. But if you see the guys it just becomes lame.

Is the metal as cavernous as your asshole?

Archspire and Beyond Creation were so disappointing to me. I heard one song from each and got excited until I heard the other stuff. Arsis is a pretty good noodly band, though.

Listening to Shout at the Devil since I finally got the CD after losing my tape of it.

I don't know the latter but with the former it's a bit of a "heard one song, heard them all" deal in a way.
It's not as extreme as with most progshit because they have some strong melodies. That's Ironically my biggest hang-up with most prog-anything. Just a lack of melody and a focus on difficult, dissonant stuff.

I say "ironically" because I love some real cacophonous, grimy shit that doesn't have much in the way of melody.
But that has a different energy to it. If you are going the guitar wanking route, you better deliver amazing layered melodies. Otherwise I just don't see the point in the approach.

Totally just a matter of taste but it is what it is.

Doesn't seem bad at all. I'll give them a proper listen.

Today, I've got an absolute fucking stomper for ya!
Malignant Altar sadly didn't exist for long and only released a few demos, a split with Gosudar (might talk about them in the near future) and a single album.

That album however is fucking great!
But the song that I want to highlight is Belial Rebirth (Metempsychosis):

Right out the gate, it stomps your fucking face in before settling into a marching groove.
After about 1:30 we enter a blastbeat section that feels fast and slow at the same time.
Enter a brutal beatdown another minute later that leads into total escalation! Until suddenly 3:20, silence....

The incarnation is complete.
What follows is a doomy, yet furious 10k ton hammer that pulverizes the theme into the fucking ground!
At 4:40 a solo enters the endless beatdown.
5:20 we shift into more atmospheric horror as a synth starts chiming in.
6 minutes on the spot, don't forget this is a Death Metal song! You get played out.

What a fucking crowd destroyer!
It feels fast yet laborious and heavy as a mountain on Jupiter.
It goes on forever, yet never gets boring. Pure brutality yet also mystique!

The whole album is great and should get blasted from start to finish in one piece. But this is certainly a highlight!

And yes, that's Cthulhu on the cover.
