I kinda have a morbid curiosity of what would come after that fad. Can't be weebshit adaptations 'cause they've already tried and failed several times before. Not to mention that weebshit in itself is too varied compared to capeshit to constitute a singular fad - unless they collectively decide to only do a specific sub-genre.

My guess is something progressive.

A obvious Obama clone who could do no wrong. At the age of middle school, he was already deducing secret identities, defeating longtime villains and impressing the rest of the Avengers. News flash: that doesn't give your character more "credibility". It just makes Peter Parker land villians ook weaker and inept for struggling to take so long and be easoly defeated.

Then as a kid you can't really give him the same problems as a teenager. So he could do no wrong. Later they artificially aged him in a attempt to desperately boost sales create some drama and tension in his life. But all that did was make HIM look like an idiot. Apparently the super intelligent, super happy wonderkid somehow forget all that and began making comparatively dumb decisions and life choices that he should know better.

The best that can happen is that he can have adventures that are basically deliberative repeats of what the original has already done anyway. If they want to keep him as the teen as counterpart to married Peter, then they're just locking him in where he can't grow up. No one is going to say that he's going to replace the original anyway. It's already merchandised to hell that Spider Man is a white dude. We've had a ton of movies out already. Games, Marvel Super Hero Island, you name it. It would take a deliberate, sustained, cost-heavy focused effort on their part to completely whitewash out the character from further existing in the public consciousness, and why would they bother to give up all that revenue?
For example, everyone knew black Captain America was gonna be temporary (and combined with a Shillary Clinton supporting writer, was written about as poorly as it could've possibly been).


The only way replacing a current character with a minority can work, is that if they weren't ever really popular, hadn't been seen in decades, and had radically different powers/appearance/etc. This is why it worked for Blue Beetle (nobody remembered Ted Kord, and Jaime turned into a fully masked tech-alien fused hybrud) or Captain Marvel (because Mar-Vell was always silly).

Everyone else should just get their own charcater, so they can have their own stories and following separate from the main one. Duane McDuffie--a black writer--created Static Shock just for that reason.

If people want to shill out a bunch of money on theater concessions and supporting a major studio conglimerate in thr name of "societal impact" then thats fine. But this isn't gonna be a once-in-a-lifetime changing special piece of art, either.

All that's gonna do is encourage more studios to just make more copycats of this formula to earn more money. These idiots can't see that all their doing is just encouraging the market to be flooded with more knockoffs. Also all the older releases with actors just mentioned will be pushed and remarketed in an attempt to cash in.
This is how we had blacksploitation and other "eras" that rose and fell. People forget that previous audiences got sick of the market flooded after a while and had it go away for up to a decade or more after.

There's something overwhelmingly cynical in those people blindly supporting a shit product with that kind of marketing to give a massive conglomerate their money, just to validate themselves as "not racist". They aren't just being played. They are playing the game along with Disney.
The whole situation is downright absurd. The emperor is naked and everyone knows it, but nobody dares to speak up. Quite to the contrary. The child speaks up and instead of the crowd sobering up they tell the child to shut the fuck up and check it's privilege.

Black Green Lantern worked fine because he happened to be in the only version of Justass League that anyone liked. Aka the Bruce Timm Paul Dini version. It didn't hurt that nobody really liked any version of Green Lantern except maybe Kyle.

You have can black characters if they're written like ordinary people. Steel in Superman: Animated was hype. All the cameos in that series were hype. But again, that was a Timm/Dini production.

And for all that Marvel has shat out movies on assembly lines in the past decade, they never did figure out how to make a fun CARTOON. Y'know, that shit with animation that children like to watch. The last good(ish) marvel capeshit cartoon was that x-men evolution thing. I'm not saying adults can't have capeshit too, but fuck's sake is the market oversaturated with marvel's brand of snarky hipster bullshit. I'd rather watch a stupid kid's show about men in tights fighting a big evil man than listen to Joss Whedon hipster sarcasm for 3 fucking hours.

Sony tried this with Cisbusters but they fucked it up by making the people in it to ugly and the movie was TOO shit for people to shill.

Ignoring Sony's general incompetence, where they fucked up was trying to fight on two fronts. They had all wymyn Ghostbusters and they were all ugly. If it were four hot women I guarantee they wouldn't have lost so much money
