I was actually surprised to hear she's coming back, seeing as she vowed never to do another Mahvel movie after they wouldn't hire her wymyn director for Thor 2. Guess she came crawling back when she realised her career's pretty much dead otherwise.
Personally I'm thrilled that the Disney heads in charge of the MCU have decided to adapt the stories that all but killed the comics and have learned absolutely nothing from their spectacular failure. I'm not optimistic enough to believe this will kill the MCU outright, but it'll definitely cripple it.
The Marvel effect will fizzle out, since the old dudes retired and Brie Cheese won't be featured in Spidey films more for nerds to make porn of her and Marisa Tomei getting fucked by Spider-boytoy. RDJ and Chris Evans were star players in the eyes of many so with them out of the picture, there will be a decline in audience attendence.
I also find it amazing how the only two non-pozzed capeshit out there are two Spidey titles : Renew Your Vows 2018 and the currently running Life Story mini series. I have to wonder what the fuck happened internally to allow those two things even exist in the first place.

It only did well because it was a Marvel movie and it was the last movie before Endgame. Apparently the character was so poorly-received, that the directors of Endgame made two cuts for that movie: one in which Captain Marvel had an active role in the story and a second one in which she's basically off-screen for most of the idea. This is apparently the reason why Brie Larson was so salty in most of the promotional interviews she did for Endgame, since they used the cut that took out most of her scenes.
As for the MCU, I guess it could go on for a couple more years. Unless they hurry up with a potential Muslim Girl movie.
