If you are going to have a Muslim superhero give them the power to blow themself up without dying like the game Splosion Man.Liar Revealed wrote: ↑Thu Jan 17, 2019 6:05 pmSo I'm checking it out and it's pretty good, but I don't like how they introduced this Muslim "Not-Iraqi" girl to the cast and they're focusing so much on her. At one point her hijab got burned off and I thought, "Oh, good. Now they're going to treat her like a normal character."Old Black Man wrote: ↑Mon Jan 07, 2019 8:49 amI’m watching uploads of the new Young Justice season (because fuck DC and their streaming service) and so far it’s alright. It’s a bit darker with some blood and shots of bodies without being Snyder bleak, and while I was dreading it’d be Woke Justice so far it’s been alright, even with a sub plot about pseudo syrian/sand nigger refugees. I liked the original series a lot and it was the closest I’ve come to being interested in capeshit, hope they don’t fuck it up.
But then she got a new one and they made this big speech about it.
Seems kind of like a Mary Sue with her power set in the fact that she seems to be able to do anything. In fact, she literally can't die. I dunno man.

No need to go into video game territory. The DC team Freedom Fighters has a guy named Human Bomb.
I think there's a woke rendition of the Freedom Fighters composed entirely of oppressed minorities (because they're fighting nazis on an alternate reality Earth and they want to stick it to Trump), but they don't even seem to have a Human Bomb anywhere in sight. Or Uncle Sam (aka "Murrica, Fuck Yeah!" in human form), for that matter. Coincidentally the only Freedom Fighters members I bother to remember.

Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
I check this thread once in a while to see if capeshit is finally dead, and I'm always disappointed it's still going.
Seriously, who the fuck is still buying tickets to go watch capeshit movies? It's been 7 years since Iron Man and these fucking things are coming out on multiple assembly lines. We get some 4-5 of these awful shits every year.
And then it's even more painful when the movies are used as a vehicle for retarded political chimpouts. Not only will that shit age like milk, but it's insulting to the medium of art when your political argument has all the nuance of a protest sign. Moral "messaging" in film has long been derided from various sources, as it tends to cheapen the art. Films can raise questions but they should not provide any single "correct" answer, because that reduces the film to a sermon. Oldboy does not tell you if revenge is good or bad. Oldboy tells a story, and if you feel a certain way at the end, maybe the film will persuade you of something. But I'm not even sure what that would be, because the film is not a morality play. It does not tell you what to think or how to feel.
Seventh Seal doesn't tell you how to feel about death. It explores life and death in the context of a story about a knight traveling with a group of different people. It exposes a lot of our human fears or concerns about death. But the creator of the movie doesn't know what happens after we die and the film carries fantastical elements that couldn't be true outside of its framing in any case.
Harakiri is actually a film made directly in protest to a certain way of life. But you can and will watch it as a story involving characters. Is the main character correct to do what he does? I don't think there's an answer in the film. Even in a protest film, the moral lesson is not something simple that you can be bashed over the head with. In protesting a certain kind of feudal lifestyle, it was necessary for the film's creator to explore that lifestyle fully. Which means characters and story.
What does capeshit offer? Orange man bad, me punch, women stronk. The effects don't even look good because there's so much CGI humping the screen in shakeycam with too much zoom.

Yeah that CGI is gettings nuts. Most Current Year Spiderman footage is either completely CGI, or partial CGI shit where they ensure that the costume looks as smooth and fake as possible. This is too much even for me, who often complained about capeshit costumes having weird basketball textures.
A big difference between Current Year movies and say Seventh Seal is that Seventh Seal is written from a human perspective. We can all relate since we're all dudes or dudettes. The political movies of Current Year only provide twisted and heavily simplified theory of the world that the viewer already needs to be on board with.

Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
Politically correct comics really miss the boat by not having a Muslim supervillain.
He could have a really cool turban that turns into things, or unravels and grapples a bunch of guys at once like Docfor Octopus.
Those got churned out for well over a decade, in westerns and heroic fantasy films.
The movies were a kind of shit, but they were popular because they were positive. After decades of war, disillusionment and lies, people wanted to see something refreshing and uplifting.
Capeshit takes what should be one movie and stretches it into nine.
It's a long, slow grind, not a happy two hour distraction.

What capeshit is doing is nothing new. Sword and sandal movies (look up Maciste) were like this in terms of simple plots, good vs evil, and that strong guys should confront bad guys.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 2:22 pm

Re: Capeshit thread (comics and movies)
It's not exactly fair to compare Seventh Seal to some big budget Hollywood mainstream capeshit, they are films born in a completely different ecosystems. Movie industries in Nordic coutries are not that much supported by private investors, but primaly by government grants, especially during the 50's, 60's and 70's. It led to the situation where movie directors made movies just to get the government gibs, they didn't really care if anyone were really interested to watch their films, they had no profit responsibility. Get the gibs, shoot some pretentious art shit, profit, repeat. Directors made pretty much what ever they wanted, sometimes it led to awesome results, like many Bergman films, most of the time it led just pure shit no one wanted to watch.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 2:22 pmSeventh Seal doesn't tell you how to feel about death. Hollywood operates in utterly reverse way, when there's a multi-million-trillion-billion budget present, private investors surely want some warranty the movie will not bomb completely. Private invested big budget films are always balancing between commercialism and artistic vision, lately the trend has been moving strongly towards pure commercialism. Capeshit/mainstreamshit today isn't much else than 2 hour flashy CGI toy commercials which strive to exploit popular brands like Star Wars, Marvel, Star Trek etc. Actors and the names of the characters change between the movies, but the movies themselves are exactly the same.
I also wonder when the people will stop paying to see this exactly same garbage over and over again. That won't happent any time soon though, capeshit is more popular than ever and the most anticipated movies of 2019 are just basically capeshit, sequels, remakes and reboots.

But there's one funny aspect; althought film circles in Nordic countries were far-lefty, people working in film industry were mostly a real socialists and commies, the films themselves didn't really include any commie-virtue signaling. But mega-budget Hollywood films made by real capitalists include that shit overwhelmingly.
When passing through the Valley of Humiliation, slaves and dastards, exposing their sores, sob aloud for consolation and sympathy.

The West is about to collapse, so movies aging like milk is something we don't have to worry about.rabidtictac wrote: ↑Sun Jan 20, 2019 2:22 pm

Yeah, humanity is doomed in a generation or so. Soon it'll just be warring tribes of slobbering 80 IQ apes twerking in the ruins of our civilization.
