That's true about the Turks. So I'd imagine that this Islamic rule against public baths is probably just relatively recent Wahabbi bullshit like the rule against drawing Mohammed. The Japanese had a fad of "Turkish baths" that were basically just brothels. Then in the early 80s a couple of Turks protested and shamed the Japanese into changing the name of these places to "Soapland" and the old term became very politically incorrect. So there are a bunch of old 70s exploitation movies with the old term "Toruko" in the title that can never be released on home video.
