It's as you say, Treize got butthurt, got redpilled and set his autismo keikaku about eliminating dem jooz in motion, except he made one mistake : he became friends with an equally autistic Chink and died for it. Wu Fei was the Light to his L if you will.

Wing EU is amazing since basically Sunrise went "Please make more Wing, we need to sell more plastic models" so they went in, made some new designs but instead Sunrise had the brilliant idea to never release the mechas but publish all the stories by that staff while smoking weed.
So the writers wrote a sequel they never wanted to so they could sell toys they never actually sold? What a clusterfuck. Why wouldn't they sell the toys anyway? The models have to be Gundam's bread and butter. It really does sound like the writers probably fucked up everything to deliberately piss off the fans because they resented the project, but unlike with The Last Jedi it didn't work because anyone who likes Gundam Wing already has an incredible tolerance for stupid allegiance changes and characters who don't act like human beings and monologue like they're being written by Ayn Rand.

Nah, there's no contempt or anything, Frozen Teardrop is like a giant shitpost of a story that exists to give contest to ultra cool Gundam designs so in a way they did their job and got paid for it while having fun. It's Sunrise and Bandai who fucked up because they thought "oh shit, this looks tight as fuck, let's publish it and wait for reactions before we make the toys" instead of making the damn new toys and then going "you wanna know the backstories, buy this spiffy new novel". It's not like it's anything new, Bandai and Sunrise often fuck up their opportunities when it comes to Gundam toys and have lost millions over the years in retrospect, from items that everybody could have bought.

It’s strange that they didn’t released toys, even some msv from uc and other universes that aren’t animated, but that doesn’t stop them.

They also chose not to release some toys about IBO and they had an entire manga series that would explore the rest of the Ars Goetia gundams and they cancelled all of it, despite the toys from the show selling fairly well.

It's like they hate success or something.

The franchise definitely peaked with Mobile Fighter G Gundam.

We can replace a lot of conventional military with drones, but someone still has to hold the territory, like you said.
Yup. Bombing shit is good to cripple and largely destroy the enemy's infrastructure. But unless you then put boots on the ground and seize the land all you've done is flatten some buildings. Tanks will always have value in that.
Mechs would work for that if they were mobile enough to walk alone roads to shell buildings with enemy troops in them but I just don't see them ever being armoured enough for that. I can't imagine one ever being able to resist a tank's main cannon shells, especially not to the legs.

Never mind armour. The bigger problems are price and complexity. You can build a much simpler tank for much, much cheaper. A tank is an armoured box on treads with a gun turret or two. A mech is an armoured fully articulated robot suit. It's gonna have way more moving parts which will be much much more expensive to make and way way easier to malfunction or break. Compared to that, the extra mobility of a mech over a tank just isn't worth it, even if you could armour them heavily enough to be comparable in durability. Quantity and reliability beat out quality at a pretty low threshold and mechs would be way over that threshold.

It's not even an issue of quantity vs quality until someone demonstrates a workable mech model that's actually superior to an M1 Abrams. More likely, it'd be a case of quantity AND quality vs dubious quality and vast expense. The mech would also have to mount weapons that are either more powerful than a standard MBT or offer some kind of additional utility. I mean, there'd have to be some benefit to building and using a mech over an MBT.

Votoms are more like power suits and those do make sense for reasons kugel explained. Warfare is getting smaller, more specialized and and more squad-focused. Giving your spec ops team power armor would be a way to up-armor, upgun and protect them better.
