Originally, her dad and mum were gonna be jewish but her dad was Bruce's mother's brother, so Bruce would also be jewish due to Martha. And the outrage was pretty big, so they changed it to only her mother being a chosen one. They unfortunately later somehow, made Hal Jordan jewish...which is some delicious irony, given that at some point, Hal Jordan was the Adolf Hitler of Green Lanterns, slept with a minor and GAS'd almost everyone in the universe.
Read the original press releases for Kate Kane pre release. It's '50-cent syndrome'.
No mention of her military background, her training, her motivation. Just a repeat of "she's a lesbian" over and over.

In comics, 'Bat-anything' is almost guaranteed to make money. Kate Kane is unique in that the marketing killed it so hard that no amount of 'Bat' anything could've saved it.

Looks like the show is doing away with the Kate Kane character altogether and replacing her with yet another lesbian character. You can't make this shit up.
