Ready Player One
Re: Ready Player One
Haven't seen the movie but I'll take a wild guess and assume it ends with the main character getting the prize and it all works out in the end, boring...
Hell I can come up with a better concept with the involvement of a VR world, a whole bunch of players while playing on their VR get trapped in the VR world and a mysterious figure tells them in order to escape they would have to kill each other, the catch being if they die in the video game, they die in real life, it would involve using different weapons from various video games and fighting on various levels. It's basicially Highlander with video games, there can be only one.

With eXistenZ there's already a far, far superior movie about VR compared to any other VR movie out there. It's cool, weird, a bit surreal and not predictable. Anybody that hasn't seen it should give it a shot at some point. I guarantee you that it's not boring.

If only Cronenberg had done RPO.

Re: Ready Player One
Why would he do RPO when he's already done something superior?

I dunno, making a VR movie like that basically makes the VR stuff window dressing unless you crank up the video game parts into overdrive.Gunner445 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 5:40 pmHell I can come up with a better concept with the involvement of a VR world, a whole bunch of players while playing on their VR get trapped in the VR world and a mysterious figure tells them in order to escape they would have to kill each other, the catch being if they die in the video game, they die in real life, it would involve using different weapons from various video games and fighting on various levels. Same here. One of those nights staying up too long despite having school the next day. Most stuff you got then is trash but every once in a while there would be a gem. I've never seen anything like it before or after. It has a very unique atmosphere.VoiceOfReasonPast wrote: ↑Tue Apr 03, 2018 9:12 pmCatched that one on TV once. Pretty friggin' weird in a good way.

I liked when he made a gun out of fish bones and blew that chink's head off.
