He left before the magic of new Who episodes got lost in the autism. Also he was the most skinhead-looking of all the Doctors. Fitting considering his backstory involved an intertemporal race war.

Didn't watch it, but this is what I heard. (Keep in mind I haven't seen much Dr. Who at all. Pretty much just that TV movie that aired on Fox in the 90s.)
A white woman scientist from Dr. Who's planet found Dr. Who as a little black girl next to some sort of dimensional portal. (Dr. Who wasn't natively from this planet like everyone had thought.)
A boy tries to take black girl Who's toy away from her, and in the resulting struggle she falls off a cliff and "dies".
Dead Dr. Who regenerates from a little black girl into a little Asian girl.
The white scientist woman kills Dr. Who repeatedly to learn the secrets of regenerating. White woman is successful and teaches the other people on her planet (or maybe just the "time lords") how to regenerate.
When Dr. Who regenerated into the old man from the first season of the show, his memory is erased so he thinks that's his first life.
He learns all of this from a guy called "The Master", a villain who has been on the show for decades but for some reason never revealed any of this before.
