The franchise peaked with its Cinematic Universe.

T1 is the only great Terminator film
Hilariously contrarian.

It's true, though. T2's storyline makes no sense. And the T-800 was a better villain than the T-1000.

Considering that you like the nu-SW movies that's some real silly reasoning to dislike T2.

Not sure about that. The T-1000 is a pretty original fellow, whereas the T-800 isn't too different from your Jason Vorheeses.

Yup. Another comparison might be Michael Myers. Just subtitute Sarah Conner with Laurie Strode.

Oddly, Laurie in the new Halloween is a lot like T2 Sarah Conner.

All monster movies are shit, including the first Predator. There are no exceptions.

Reese said in the first film that Skynet was defeated in the future, and sending the Terminator back in time was its last ditch plan before the resistance captured the time machine.

But now, in T2, out of fucking nowhere comes this more advanced Terminator because apparently Skynet was still functioning post-defeat, had a backup time machine I guess, and didn't decide to send the superior model the first time because reasons.
And where does Skynet send the T-1000? Back to 1984 to help finish off the clearly worn down Sarah Connor? Nope, it sends him to 1991, so Sarah could prepare and we could have a movie.

We also find out in T2 that apparently Skynet was built out of the 1984 T-800. Which makes sense, if we're going with the first film's idea of it all being a time loop. But then they decide the future isn't set? So... 1984 invasion = predestination paradox, 1991 invasion = do whatever you want? Ok then.

Probably some retcon to allow for another sequel. But is it really a time loop, or did the salvage of the T-800 parts just accelerate everything and make the future worse? Any maybe this whole time travel isn't quite as accurate as expected.

Now where things get stupid is T3, where it is revealed that the future is in fact set in stone and the entirety of T2 was effectively a waste of time.

I refrained from using Mikey because he's not nearly as bulletproof as Jason.

And slasher movies love ripping each other off, so this development isn't too surprising to me.
