I'm actually fine with force healing as a light side counterpart to Sith Lighting in that it would be, as VM said, the pinnacle of what a Force User could attain in their study. Mastering the Dark Side gives you the power to end life, while mastering the Light Side gives you the power to preserve it.

Instead, like Force Lightning, it was just another superpower for Force Users that Rey just had because she was the bestest force user. There's no moral or philosophical underpinning or implications to Force Powers anymore. Jedi and Sith are just X-Men now.

It was kind of heading that way in the EU, the Prequels established it in screen canon so it's not entirely on Disney, but the ST really cemented the idea.
