I read some twitter threads following this one and the reason pretentious cunts like TLJ is that it is very easy to over analyse that movie and think that it is really deep.

Like this shit here. He can ignore all of the problems to convince himself he "gets" the brilliance of it like any hack with an English degree.

He does have a point about REEEAN having to work with JJ's mystery box garbage. And stories were coming out saying that Rian had a completely different script that he had to change entirely because of 7 which lead to the 6 month delay, and I think his frustration at having to do that pissed him off so much it came out in the writing. Rian is mostly an indie film maker who wrote his own films and has had control over everything. YMS nitpicked the fuck out of Looper because it's time travel was stupid but one clip he kept playing was Rian saying (paraphrasing here) "I just want to get the technical stuff about the time travel out the way and focus on the characters". In a self contained movie like Looper that is fine, but when he has to deal with shit JJ wrote and follow up on that, and also be contained by Star Wars lore and appeasing a large fanbase his attitude becomes an issue. He can't just do things his way, he has to be loyal to the source material and try to make a sensible follow up to JJ's mystery box and he clearly got pissy and shitty. You can see it in certain parts:

Rian can actually make good movies but he is not a Hollywood filmmaker, and for this project he was not a good choice since he is too used to controlling everything. And with 9 it's so funny seeing JJ's anger at Rian deliberately fucking up his lore come out in HIS writing as he tries to undo all the shit Rian did.

That's why Kathleen Kennedy is the biggest reason this was shit, why in the ever loving fuck did you not get everyone in a fucking room and say "let's plan out what the fuck is going to happen in these movies"? As a producer that was literally the most important part of your fucking job and you fucked it up, but because vagina she got to keep her job. And because she couldn't actually organise this properly this trilogy is the biggest mess out of all the Star Wars movies, the prequels may be bad but it's consistently George's movies and vision.

The prequels are creatively bad. The jizzney trilogy is very cynically and crassly bad. It's bad in a tiring way, like arguing with a used car salesman who tries to sell you a lemon. The prequels created a lot of stupid shit people still laugh at. They were terrible movies, but they were terrible because George is an idiot with bad ideas. But like you said, those were his bad ideas. His original vision. His shitty rhyming poetry and dense frames, everything is just so dense there's so much going on! I hate sand, it's rough and coarse and it gets everywhere.

What do we get from these Disneyquels? Fucking nothing. Luke is a bum who gets drunk off alien titty milk and Leia can fly through space and survive. The rest of the movies are composed primarily of cynical reruns from the original trilogy.
