Well, if it's Sony, then I'm happy they didn't get their money. I'd love to see them go under.

Well, IT is the most commercially successful horror film of the year. In just two weeks it has made over $350 million at the box office and over two thirds of that money came from the American box office. It's now guaranteed it'll make well over $500 million and it's unheard for a horror film to make that much. This is capeshit level box office success. Get ready for a massive wave of Stephen King adaptations.

The King Universe. Featuring a road movie in which Pennywise and Christine drive to the Overlook Hotel.

(And I guess a modernized version of Needful Things and Misery could be fun.)

Seems like brand recognition worked this time around.

I remember the original being scary for a TV movie, and Tim Curry being on par with Freddy.
But all the reviews I've seen say the old one hasn't aged well.
I'll probably wait on this one until home video, as it sounds like they cut a bunch of stuff out for the theatrical release.

The old one wasn't exactly great in the first place. But Tim Curry was fantastic.

I wouldn't mind seeing a big-screen adaptation of Storm of the Century, as long as the hopelessly downbeat ending remains intact.

The original had some lengths, but also some creepy bits. Also every second of Tim Curry is pure gold.

Agree. I just remember all the kids talking about Curry's Pennywise the following day at school. He really made an impact. I think it was Pennywise actually killing that little kid in the sewer drain that cemented his iconic scary status to '80s kids. You just didn't see stuff like that on TV at the time.

I think for me, it was already that mild jump scare at the beginning, with him suddenly just standing behind the sheets. Dude didn't even have to talk to steal the show.
