Never realised that George Harrison was actually in Life Of Brian, I know he famously solely funded it as Handmade Films (and also funded excellent films like The Long Good Friday and Time Bandits) but I never actually knew he appeared in it. It’s during the “he’s not the messiah” scene for like 12 frames IIRCAuli wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 1:01 amI'm watching Life of Brian. Haven't seen in... what, two decades?
So far a rape joke, and a guy who says he's a woman and want a baby. "We shall fight the oppressors for your right to have a baby".
"It is symbolic of our struggle against oppression."
"... symbolic of his struggle against reality."
And there's a transphobe... It's pretty... ahead of it's time? xD

Yes, every forum should only have posts saying "Google it".

Re: Movie Thread
Didn't leave out the name of the film intentionally, just slipped my mind when I wrote my post about the film.

Re: Movie Thread
A bit more about The Other Side of the Wind, it's set on the last day of old maverick director Jake Hannaford, which happens to be his birthday. The old director is played by John Huston, and his friend, a young very successful director is played by Peter Bogdanovich, which kinda mirrors their own relationship, somewhat by an accident. The young director was originally played by the comedian by Rich Little, but he fell out with Welles during the shoot and essentially quit the project, and was replaced by Bogdanovich by necessity.
It also features film-within-film, directed by Hannaford who is trying to get "end money" to finish the shoot. It satirizes artsy-fartsy films of the early 70s like Zabriskie Point, and the old directors who tried to stay relevant by doing "the youth film". TOSOTW could've done a bit less of film-within-film, and more scenes from the party, but that's a minor flaw.
There are also two documentaries in netflix, They'll Love Me When I'm Dead, which is about Welles and the production itself, and A Final Cut for Orson: 40 Years in the Making, which is about the work they put into the film to complete it after Welles' death. The latter documentary should've double the length, so just shy of 80 minutes, it can be found under TOSOTW -> Trailers and more in netflix.

Ridley Scott sure seems determined to shit out as many unnecessary sequels as possible before he kicks the bucket.
Gladiator? Ok, every single important character died in the first one. What's there to make a sequel about?

Is Spoony dead yet?
