Funny. You say that. I remember when she gave an interview bitching about Sattler's and Grant's relationship in Jurassic Park saying it was inappropriate due to Grant being in his 40s and Sattler being 22 or so. My brothers and my reactions were not thinking she was correct. Instead we said damn she hit the wall fast because we assumed she was in her 30s in the movie. You know like Lupa in real life.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Sun Sep 15, 2024 11:20 pmSadly, Lynch absolutely loves Dern, despite her having become an unlikable hag over the years. She's got big Lupa energy.

I would've assumed as much. Books supplementing a show, movie or vidya are often just terrible fanfiction.

You’d have loved it. Two of them had never seen it before and instantly loved it. Also man, all these years and I still want a piece of Janessa or Adrienne.Rapeculture wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 2:20 amWish I could have been there. I absolutely love Jason X. Re: Movie Thread
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is not amazing, but it's fun.
I liked the soundtrack more than the original's - Danny Elfman is featured prominently in the opening credits, but apart from the Beetlejuice theme and a school choir version of Day-O, the rest is disco and pop music from the 70s and 80s.
Danny DeVito has a cameo as a zombie janitor who complains about foreigners.
Monica Bellucci is surprisingly good, this is probably the first time i have ever seen her displaying decent acting skills.
The best things in the movie are Michael Keaton, and the musical numbers with Michael Keaton.
Detective Willem Dafoe is superfluous, and more plot device than character.
Catherine O'Hara evolved from New York Karen to full Yoko Ono parody, and i liked that.
Lydia's boyfriend is clearly a parody of motivational conmen like Kyle Cease.
The only flaws i found are:
- Jenna Ortega has a line about muh climate change, and another one about muh feminist icons; i don't know if it's because her character is supposed to be a Lisa Simpson clone, because Tim Burton is a shitlib faggot, or both.
-An awful CGI sequence showing the death of Lydia's father; i get that you don't want a pedo in the movie, but Lydia's stepmom telling her stepdaughter what happened to him would have been more than enough.
- The way Beetlejuice is introduced in the movie sucks ass; all of a sudden he's just there, working in an office in the afterlife with the shrunken heads.
A later scene in which Lydia's boyfriend evokes him because he didn't believe Beetlejuice was real, followed by Keaton pretending to be a marriage counselor would have been a much better introduction.

Re: Movie Thread
I do think the movie rushes thru its subplots in its otherwise entertaining third act.
Pivoting to make Beetlejuice Undead Bugs Bunny works well enough. I do feel like Keaton plays it differently here, but not necessarily in a bad way.

I'd be happy if it was fanfiction. Those books are epistolaries. Imagine reading 100 vague newspaper articles about shit that has fuck all to do with Twin Peaks until about halfway through.Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Mon Sep 16, 2024 6:23 pmI would've assumed as much. But sure, tell me more about that extra from that one episode who apparently investigated aliens in the 1950s, and how the Red Indians teleported around using black magic.
It wasn't fanfiction, it was just a conspiracy theorist lover using the Twin Peaks name so he can ramble about who he thinks shot JFK

Re: Movie Thread
The funniest bit was Frost reimagining Robyn Lively's character as a secret assassin.
In the show, she was just a funny gold digger slut.
It's like he was embarrassed of season 2 and tried so hard to make it 'cool'. Which makes it way less cool.

Autism attracts more autism. Sooner or later, an internet nobody will attract the exact kind of fans - and detractors - he deserves.
