Just a minor woke point modifier. Like bitches claiming they are bi when they really aren't.

How the fuck do you make 34 of DD a lesbian but don't have any scenes of her munching carpet? What's the point then?
The same way you make Dumblydore gay without ever having a scene of him touching Harry.

There's something morbidly hilarious about the fact that they're making a Captain Pike show 50 years after Pike was deemed too boring for a show.

It's the closest they can come to peak TOS nostalgia without having to recast the TOS crew again.
It's also a desparate move of them to appease the fans, promising that they'll do a Trek show that will actually feel like a Trek show for once (which I don't buy).

Even if they wanted to do a proper Trek show, they couldn't

They had no issue with Pike. The execs felt The Cage was too cerebral and not enough action so they asked for a second, more plebbed up, pilot. Jeffrey Hunter didn't want to do another pilot so they looked for another lead, ultimately landing on Bill Shatner

That's what you get when you hire stupid, ignorant people that don't care about the show's history they write for.
They love the prestige of Star Trek but are clueless about it.

Do they even need to? I feel like they could get most of the actors in the Kelvin reboot for a television show.

Oh right, I confused the executives' reaction with Nimoy's. He said at one point that the character of Spock didn't really click with Pike. He felt that he had to act more flamboyant to make up for Hunter's sternness, whereas with Shatner, he managed to get a decent dynamic.
