People forget how many shitty movies Woo made or one of his imitators made. He ruined action movies for, like, 10 years or some shit. Legit.

I fucking hate his gunfights, with the slow-mo cuts with doves flying and everyone flinging their arms around shooting in multiple directions at once.

John Woo in his wettest of dreams couldn't ever direct a gunfight scene like this:

I really liked The Killer, Hard Boiled and Bullet in the Head. Haven't seen them in ages though, don't know if they've withstood the time well. Woo's Hollywood films after Face/off are total garbage.

Blackjack was okay. Cheesy as hell but with excellent (for tv) action scenes. After that he stopped doing pure gun movies and started doing shitty thrillers like Paycheck or terrible wire-fu garbage like Red Cliff. He's got some Korean heist movie coming out that looks kind of old-school Wooish so I don't know.

Point is, modern gun fights suck ass.

I had my fun with Red Cliff. The wire-fu wasn't too crazy, and the most entertaining stuff was Zhuge Liang trolling people and setting his keikakus in motion, anyways.

(Oh, and Gan Ning was lulzy)

Started watching some 2010 Three Kingdoms tv show made in china. It's actually alright so far. Better than a lot of shitty modern tv dramas. I have a Seven Swords thing to watch too. I saw about 20 minutes of that and was confused if it was trying to be a wuxia film, seven samurai ripoff or lord of the rings.
Hey, this reminds me that I need to watch that 2010 show.

Three Kingdoms has been fun so far. The action is lame, with way too many quick cuts and close-ups, but the show is mainly a political drama and that part is great fun.

Yeah, I dig the first 2 Max Paynes. I don't know what the fuck was going on with the 3rd one.
