Someone on here said they (Legendary) only had the rights to Kong after this and you can kind of tell - because Kong's effectively the protagonist/has the most 'character' material/is the more likable one.

Did anyone honestly expect taht Kingy Kong would not take most of the spotlight? He's the Kaiju of Color.

The NuGodzilla movies have all been flops, no way WB is spending more cash to keep the rights to a character that cannot bring in money. Kong, on the other hand, is technically a public domain character due to rights shenanigans with the original novelization. If they do continue these shitty monster movies it makes more sense to do it with Chad Kong instead of Fatzilla.

Not that this would've been particularly representative of the franchise. The action was a bit weaksauce thanks to the costumes not being able to take the same beating as the Nihon-tier stuff.

Chicken Soup For The Soul presents the best movie of year?

I shit you not, Nic Cage doesn't say one word in the entire thing. He's a weird rockabilly stoic badass who fights a bunch of animatronic monsters. A random YT comment:

I love the character that Nicolas Cage plays in this movie, it generally looks like he's just having some fun, or he kinda seems like a level 100 player going back to level 1 for something he forgot and is just witnessing a bunch of level ones dying.

Nothing is explained. He drinks this weird power soda every hour on the hour then plays pinball until he's ready to go back out and fight more animatronics. No backstory. He just exists. There's a gang of annoying kids led by this cute big-eyed hafu who break in only to be slaughtered like chumps. It even gets a little based because a juicy PAWG burns coal with some thug then is immediately killed for her crime against humanity. (The actress, Caylee Cowan, got leaked and has lots of nudes.)

Not a great movie, probably not even one of Cage's top 10, but compared to everything else in Current Year it's a fucking masterpiece. It reminds me of Exorcist III, a movie with a generic plot but is absolutely amazing due to the crazy bullshit and insane editing.

It even as a theme song (a "banger" as the kids say):
