MGS3 is a borderline masterpiece, I need to go back and play it.

Watch DSP's playthrough, it's S-rank gameplay coupled with Phil's inciteful and witty commentary in the boring parts.

Sutherland wasn't much better than Hayter. He hardly spoke and his role as Snake was extremely understated. Hayter wasn't a genius VA, but he was iconic and always good for memes. As much as the Wesker voice actor is a real-life cuck, I wouldn't want Capcom to fire him and hire Samuel Jackson or some shit, just to court Hollywood. But the decision to waste money on big name actors was probably Kojima's, and is a good example of why he's kind of an idiot who fucks up his own franchise sometimes.
That's honestly one of the biggest warning signs for me before the downfall of a franchise. If you throw out God knows how much cash for Hollywood VAs, you're either have too much money, or whatever hack is managing everything has sniffed his own farts for too long and needs to be stopped.

At least Star Citizen had the good sense to get Rhona Mitra instead of some washed up Frenchie.

There's absolutely no combination of words that can complete this sentence and be truthful.

MGS2 reminds me a lot of MGSV. Technologically, it was a massive breakthrough. In terms of visuals and audio, it pioneered a lot of the sounds we associated with MGS and even some of the (shitty) ideas. The gameplay was a straight evolution of concepts from MGS1 and I believe guards had their AI upgraded quite a bit. But for all that, it still looks and feels downright sloppy compared to MGS3. The only flaw I can think of with MGS3 that isn't related to ps2 technology is the camo system. MGS2 has many flaws all throughout, not least of which was a boring and shitty protagonist who didn't become interesting until Platinum got ahold of him.
SpoilerShow
Jack isn't bad in MGS2 because he's not Snake. He's bad because he's a whiny little bitch who gets codex-cucked constantly.
For me the trolling of Kojima with mgs2 was annoying, after all the trailers and the demo that came with Zoe 1, you end just playing with raiden in the final game, he isn’t that bad but at the moment of the release of course he couldn’t fill the expectations of a snake replacement.

The only master pieces of the series are mgs1 and 3, in gameplay and with a simple story.

He was a retarded asshole with MGS2. Subverting expectations for the sake of it. I can see why he wants to be part of Pedowood.
Oh, so he wanted to do something different? Great idea, but not with the second game most people ever played in the series. It's like some weird spin off right at the start of a franchise. The fuck was he thinking? That's what I mean when I say he needs somebody just fucking lording over him so he can act right.

Yes I agree, the fucker clearly worked ok having a low profile being just another developer of Konami, the pseudo celebrity stuff got in his head.

I always thought that the story of mgs2 and 4 wouldn’t be so messy if Kojima would have kept liquid alive as villain, less magic hands and useless clones.

More like MGS2 would have been less messy if Kojima hadn't been up his own ass snorting cocaine and postmodernism.
