I know fighting games aren't about the story but if you're going to create a story mode that's clearly intended to be a cinematic experience (it's more cutscene than gameplay) then you better do it right.

I think they shot themselves in the foot by having the previous game advance the time by 20 years or so. Having characters actually age and/or die does not mesh well with a series whose fans expect to keep playing as their favorite characters.

I just read a synopsis of the story and yeah fuck that. The lore was always interesting in MK but they fucked it all up with 9.

I think this is the worst user review score they've ever got for a mainline game. MK's lore / settings were always retarded (in a cheesy way) and they always fucked up Chinese/Japanese names really bad, but it seems they finally crossed some sort of line. IMO Jax going back in time to liberate fellow nigras is like Guile going back in time to liberate white slaves in Persia it makes no sense from a character design standpoint. They should go back to their B/hong-kong movie roots but it's far too late I guess.

Makes sense, I doubt Ed cares very much about Mortal Kombat anymore, other than "Is it still profitable?" But it's kind of sad that he's leaving a lot of this stuff up to SJW devs. The kind of faggots that wanted to censor MK when it first debuted.
