I know this would fuck over INs but would also helps out scummy AAA devs/publishers. This prick was in charge of Asscreed 3 which pretty much killed the series long term, but this "fuck you entitled gamer, pay me" mentality is exactly why AAA games are dying. These arrogant douchebags never learn and need to stop seeing their customers as this enemy who has all this money they deserve hidden away that they must get back from them, and see them as customers who they need to keep happy so they buy their product. It's why Japanese games are doing better, they understand this bitch basic shit every business owner knows.

The "Gamer Entitlement" meme has always been projection.

You think paying 60+ bucks for something gives you any rights? Think again

I’m having flashbacks to that Andrew Ryan speech. Come to think of it we really don’t own jack shit.

If you can replace the experience of playing your game with watching someone else play it on the internet, then your game is shit. If the story is the only entertaining part of your game, then you haven't actually created a game, but a movie that makes you press a button every few minutes to make sure you're awake.

Exactly. People only watch steams for two things. It's either to see top level play or because they generally enjoy the streamer no matter what.

Not a unique thing. People watch top league sports and play them themselves but wouldn't watch regional league games just because they enjoy the game on principle.

The game itself has no watchability unless the specific person playing it is either good or entertaining.

Google has a deep war chest, baby.

Got a bit of a chuckle recently due to some normie Kraut article about the upcoming new consoles and how they might just be the last of their kind - not because of increasing irrelevancy due to developers fleeing under the PC or Nintendo umbrella, but because of cloud gaming services like the Stadia. No mention of lag and other drawbacks of that concept, though
