New Vegas. The Fallout world is goofy and retarded. 1 is a clunky, turn-based strategy RPG, 2 is full of unfunny references.
3 is the first most played but New Vegas is much better in every regard. Don't bother with anything past that.

But what about Tactics? You can have an entire squad of dogs in that one.

Tactics is the worst one that isn't BoS.

Come to think of it, Fallout Tactics' subtitle is also Brotherhood of Steel.
Coincidence? I think not.

3 and New Vegas are the only two I've played.

New Vegas and Fallout 1 are the only ones I'd bother playing.

Fallout (the series) is such a pastiche of pop culture apocalyptia that it barely has a coherent thought past references.

Fallout will always be the poor man's Rifts.

Like the reddit version of it. I've grown to dislike the series more and more. I could die happy never seeing the fucking Vaultboy ever again.

Even OG fallout kinda has a little bit of that plebbit humor, with all the blatant fucking references to movies. "Hey, do you remember Mad Max? That was a good movie, wasn't it? 'Member A Boy And His Dog? 'Member the 1950s? 'Member crooners? And jazz? 'Member the red scare?"

At a certain point, fuck off and tell your own story, asshole. Which they eventually do, and it's about green gorilla men infecting the world with jigaboo fever.

New Vegas is more like a Nu-Old West playground and the references are less on the nose, containing as they do a lot of heartland country old boys types of music and characters. Plus a strong tie to real-world geography, playing up the natural beauty of the world as it recovers (but not covering the world in green shrubs like fucking last of cucks.)

I'm sure they'll update their memes once the inevitable reboot happens. The 1950s are too problematic, anyways.
Mark my words: The Vaultboy will get a CalArts makeover sooner or later.
