No.

People put so many hours in because the true shittiness of the game isn't apparent until you really think about how the mechanics interact, as I said. A lot of people are perfectly happy to skinnerbox for hours as a way to relax and come down from their day of boring real life work. Skyrim is Marker Following Fantasy Game and there are plenty of people who have shit enough tastes that they find that enjoyable.

Notice how I haven't mentioned glitches and bugs yet despite it having tons of those. Because the bugs and glitches, while awful, can be theoretically addressed by mods and aren't the biggest problem. There's no way to fix the garbage intro, lack of builds, terrible dungeons and follow-the-marker game design.

Tbf, you probably could make/find a mod who replaces all of the dungeons with something that's actually fun.

Also with the way you describe Skyrim, the game basically sounds like a mobile game. You might as well call it Draugr Clicker, 'cause that's like 3/4 of the game.

I almost did compare it to cookie clicker since 99% of the game is following a fucking marker to collect some shit (usually hidden in a draugr cave) to bring back to a lazy npc.

At least when you follow a marker in fallout 3/new vegas, you're likely to get a fun dialogue scene with some choices, have a choice of quest endings and meet some cool characters. Oh, and there's actually builds in the game. I usually run low science and that means completely ignoring computers because I can't do shit with them. Likewise, I'm doing the old world blues dlc in new vegas now and I don't have an energy build, so most of the weapons I'm getting are vendor fodder. But one imagines an energy build would have felt that way about Honest Hearts.

Sure, the 3d fallout games kind of fall apart after level 20 when your stats get too OP, but at least it's not broken from level 1 like skyrim is.

Even Fallout 3's dungeons were vaults which told some story unique to each vault. This is coming from somebody who doesn't even like the Fallout setting in the first place. At least you never knew what the next vault brought. There were just well too few of them and the subways were fucking shit.

Popularity was never a sign of quality. Tell faggots that it's the GOTY and the best shit ever and they will believe you. Doesn't matter if the game is BTFO by every single of it's predecessors and about 90% of all 80s CRPGs even.

The Fallout subway system in 3 was removed in New Vegas. I think it was a concession made to the engine. The subway added a lot of functional size to the world without requiring any new assets, which is probably why bugthesda did it. The subway is probably the only dungeon in any other modern action rpg I can think of that approaches the level of shit of the typical skyrim dungeon. Not quite as bad but close.

All the other dungeons in fallout 3 and new vegas were far superior and, like you said, most told a story.

The subways at the very least made sense of being there and being so fucking bland. They weren't either actual dungeons but rather pathways that you'll never have to use after the first time thanks to fast travel. I don't like them, but I get why they are there.
But Skyrim? Can you name me a single dungeon in that game that isn't the same ultra shit? I legit can't think of one.
Seriously, if I ever see another Draugr I will go on a murderous rampage.

And Skyrim dungeons have just as much flavor text and a story told in most of them as the FO ones have.

Take of your fucking nostalgia goggles for FO and your hate goggles for skyrim and you see that you overrate the first and underrate the former while theyre exactly the same. The saying fallout with swords or skyrim with guns isnt pulled from the air you know.

Fallout 4 is Skyrim with guns. Fallout 3 and New Vegas give you actual choices and build variety. Everything people shit on fallout 4 for was in Skyrim first and sucked there too.

What dungeons in fallout 3 have super mutants as the generic enemies? They're pretty much limited to jacobstown police station and the immediate DC capital area (above ground). I'm surprised you didn't bitch about feral ghouls.

And this false equivalence is COMPLETE bullshit when we start talking about new vegas. Pretty much every dungeon in new vegas had a completely unique arrangement of enemies. Skyrim? Draugrs. Always Draugrs.

It was "Oblivion with guns" talking about Fallout 3. That's very accurate in many ways. I've also said how Oblivion at least had interesting parts and was worth playing before. I can't say the same about Skyrim.
No, the dungeons aren't even remotely the same and neither do any of the Skyrim dungeons have any story telling. They are either Dwemer dungeons or, mostly, crypts full of Draugr. None tell a story that I could remember and I'm fairly sure they don't tell any in the first place.
The vaults in Fallout 3 all tell a unique story. Not all of them are good, obviously, like the one that's just full of giant rats is lame and the one where some guy named Gary was cloned was fairly lazy as well. But even those have more lore than any Skyrim dungeon.
Then we've got the really wild ones like the one where civil war broke out, the one where the Overseer would be sacrificed every year or the one your father is in with the virtual reality city. The entire premise was better. You know that mostly every vault has some funky shit going on and you'd be eager to find out what it was. In many cases, it was something memorable, which is why I can even name some after all those years that I've played Fallout 3 on the 360.

For Skyrim? That's a much more recent experience and yet I find it easier to recall Oblivion dungeons than the Skyrim ones. That should tell you something.
I'm also far from a Fallout fan. I don't like the first two, liked 3, think New Vegas is overrated with a garbage setting and wouldn't touch 4 with a ten foot pole. You'd be hard pressed to find somebody that dislikes Fallout more than me outside of somebody that thinks it's total trash.

The Vault about people being sacrificed was nuts. I went through that one recently and the twist at the end was super dark. I don't even remember if I had to go there for a quest or if I wandered in. I think I wandered in to grab some shit the brotherhood wanted, but I ended up on this crazy adventure through a properly-plotted experience. The sacrifice room was nuts. I know some shit was gonna go down but had no idea what. Then you get the swerve after that about the way the vault's moral choice was SUPPOSED to work vs how it actually happened. I came in expecting a fetch quest and got a better narrative than anything in skyrim.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas had more enemy variety in general than skyrim. Skyrim used draugrs and dwarf machines almost exclusively. The first time Lakelurks show up in a new vegas dungeon is probably the first time you'll have EVER seen them in the game. There are tons of enemies like that too. Fiends only appear around new vegas itself. Lakelurks only around lakes. Cazadores in the open desert. Deathclaws near train yards or quarries. Mantids in the mountains or near greenery. Hell, there's an entire set of enemies you encounter in low level areas that you just won't see at all once you visit primarily higher-level areas in NV, like mole rats, bloat flies and radroaches. Them shits aren't even in the fucking game in high level areas.

I was going to list all the enemies in skyrim, but I realized that the sheer number isn't the problem in skyrim. The problem is placement. I listed a bunch of types of skyrim enemies before realizing every single one I had noted doesn't appear in dungeons. Only on the overworld. So that leaves draugrs, skellingmans and dwemmer for almost every dungeon. It doesn't matter if wolves, bears and tigers show up in the overworld when most of the quests require fetching a macguffin from the draugr lord's throne. There could be a thousand different enemy types in skyrim and it wouldn't matter if 80% of the fucking content is in dungeons and 80% of the dungeons are dwemmer or draugr.
