And nothing of value was lost.
Who else will produce Western visual novels and walking sims now? Gaming is doomed!
Games are not art. The one time anybody should have listened to Roger Ebert and they didn't.

Absolute peak soy. Glad to see they were punished for their hubris by the gayming gods. May god have no mercy on their souls.

But watch as all the gayme journalists cry about what a loss it is to the world that a shitty company which makes bad games went under.

That's what happens if you stretch your episodic shit out too much. Noyce.

But I guess some of those devs will eventually return to gain some quick bucks with some spiritual successor Kickstarter / Early Access shit that never gets finished.

Who honestly needs Western VNs? The Nippon originals at least have pretty 2D (waifu) art. Most of the 3D shit I've seen from Telltales looks ugly, rushed and borderline unfinished. Because it probably is.

So, that pretty much marks every walking simulator dev being out of business besides the Life Is Tumblr faggots. One more to go.
Don't forget that God of Soy is a walking simulator now.

Telltale are basically the polar opposite of a game like RE4. RE4 has a trash (funny) story but godlike gameplay. I was playing that just today and it's timeless. A thing of fucking beauty that ages like a fine wine. Telltale will sell you a pile of cow manure on a gold-encrusted platter and call it a steak. Whereas RE4 is that steak that arrives at your table with no frills but is cooked perfectly to your tastes and seasoned beautifully.
So fucking true. RE4 is so goddamn good that it saved the Resident Evil series from dying out. People decry RE4 as being the point at which the series starting moving into action territory, but they forget that sales were slipping pretty bad around the time of RE3/Code Veronica. People wouldn't have had their Outlast-with-weapons RE7 if it weren't for RE4. Just hoping the remake of 2 doesn't end up blowing goats now.

RE3 was a great game but I wasn't impressed with what I played of code veronica. And RE3 already started to make everything faster and more action-oriented. You could craft ammo to reduce ammo concerns, zombies moved a lot faster and the default pistol was worthless. RE3 also had the mercenaries mode with 4 playable characters IIRC. It's funny too because RE3 was farmed out to a different team, yet ended up way better than the game that was going to have the RE3 label (code veronica.)

RE3 did a lot to innovate RE that it doesn't get credit for. Mr. X started in RE2 but he wasn't nearly as scary as Nemesis. He was way more scripted, weaker and didn't even show up until 2nd run. Crafting was in earlier RE games but you couldn't craft ammo and you didn't have crafting choices. RE2 didn't have optional bosses you could fight for extra rewards or a choice on paths you could take to get different events. A lot of these ideas came back in later games. RE4 had plenty of split paths/alternate areas you could visit. RE6 straight up stole the Nemesis for their shitty Ustinack (sp.) And the idea of making RE more arcade-like in general was carried on with RE4, 5 and 6 Mercenaries and Rev 1 and 2 Raid Mode aka the only good thing about Rev 2. The dodge move in RE3 was later brought over in the form of context-sensitive evasive moves for RE4, 5 and 6 as well as a dedicated dodge function in Rev 1 and 2. And making the zombies so much faster in RE3 hardly needs explaining in terms of its massive influence on all the other games.

RE3 is still more impressive when you consider I think the game was made in a year. It's not even my favorite RE game (RE2 or RE4 is) but it's a damn sight better than modern crapcom. Crapcom probably didn't help their cause any with regard to survival horror burnout when you consider dino crisis 1 was a blatant RE ripoff. One thing about capcom that's been true since the NES days is they have no problem milking a franchise dry. See mega mans.

RE 3 polished a lot of stuff of RE 2 like Mr.x upgrade and the Hunk 4th survivor stuff that became mercenaries mode, even the story mix really well with the events of the other game, I remember that with the help of a friend we used the same file to unlock the eight epilogues, kinda pointless for a reward but the game was just fun.

About tellgames just good riddance, we need lees movie game and walking simulators.
