The original source code is just plain lost because that specific Atari is gone and the current never had it.

I think the big problem with FS was that Kaiser tried reverse engineering everything to his KEX engine and didn't bother using any of the Build engine's code. At least NBlood is in active development and seems to be the most accurate out of all ports of Blood. Kaiser even suggests using it because FS won't be supported anymore.

I decided to pirate the new Doom 64 port and compared to the N64 original it seems to be more accurate than the older EX port was. If you only care about playing it as vanilla as possible it's a good port to go for. Kaiser even wrote up a list of differences on the Doom 64 EX page.

IMO using the KEX engine was a big misstep on their department. The Build engine is a complete monster of its own (Ken was either a genius or the luckiest hack fraud in the industry). I'm curious if the Blood source code was available to them. I know it still exists because one of the developer wanted to make his own port some time ago, IIRC.
