Sorry, can't get on the "FFVII is overrated" bandwagon. That game was my childhood. Yeah the hodgepodge of hi-tech, low culture is poorly defined but it's also charming in a "anything goes" kinda way. At least Square didn't take all that shit seriously back then and just had fun with world building.

But I've always opposed a remake. It's never going to top the original, and the Compilation proved that Square's current crop haven't a fucking clue about the original. Cloud was never a broody emo in the game except for when Sephiroth mindraped him, and Aerith wasn't a saccharine Mary Sue either. She threatens to tear a guy's nuts off at one point!
