I generally prefer turn-based combat if it's done well, like in Temple of Elemental Evil, but I don't mind RTWP, like it's done in IE-games or in Pathfinder: Kingmaker, the combat encounter design in Kingmaker isn't earth shattering, but there is nice variety in the enemies you get to fight in the game, so it's not all the same kind of monsters. There is turn-based mod for Kingmaker, which from what I've heard, works very well. On the whole, the modding scene is very lively and there are already many big mods even though there's no modding tools. I think PF:KM will have a much longer lifespan, than for example, Pillars of Eternity-games.

One of the reasons why I loved PF:KM is that the tone is lighter and, not exactly "fairy tale", but more fantastical, which was very much intentional by the devs. One really have to draw comparisons to Pillars of Eternity, which was so fucking boring and lifeless, not only the story, but the classes, rule set and itemization too, because Sawyer is autistic fuck. White March did have some very good improvements over the base game, such the story and writing were clear improvements. I haven't bothered with the sequel, but from what I've seen, seems to be more of the same with the first one's base game, rather than White March.

DA:O had horrible combat and probably the worst combat encounter design I've ever seen, you keep fighting the same monsters fight after fight, plus you basically play the same game as what all other Bioware-games are with pretty much the exact same companions. Bioware's best written game will always be Baldur's Gate 2, with their best companions, after that they lost their "mojo".

I doubt anyone from the Baldur's Gate days still works at Bioware or has been since a long time.

I was wondering whether or not the original Kingmaker Adventure Path was written by one of Paizo's more edgelord adventure writers.

Hopefully they're dead.

No idea, I've never played it, I've never played PnP altogether.

Maybe I just had some bad luck with the adventures I glanced over.

There's like one about evil fairies at a carnival that is pretty much The Tomb of Torture Porn. Also a Drizzt expy NPC who saves the day for some reason.

There's one about rescuing a bunch of kids from some Kobolds, and the text is quick to point out that every single one of the kids will be irrevocably fucked up by the experience.

There's at least one Call of Cthulhu ripoff adventure which is... well, Call of Cthulhu.

And then there's a beginner adventure featuring a slasher villain ghost.

I've read jollier adventures for Shadow of the Demon Lord - aka D&D meets the grim darkness of Warhammer.

I stopped playing Stygian , there are so many bugs the game is unplayable in its current state.
I hope the devs will fix it like they announced on Steam, the story and setting are very good and the roleplaying and crafting are very similar to the ones in Arcanum.

Opinions on this one?

I have read comments about it ranging from "it's commie propaganda" to "it gives you the option to be a white supremacist cop who punches the lgbt+ for entertainment".
I don't know if it's worth a try

If there's any chance for the latter claim to be true, it might be worth checking out.

Apparently the protagonist is the white guy with the moustaches, and this dialogue will appear if you turn him into a fascist cop:

I still haven't tried the game though, too many soyboys are singing its praises for it to be truly kino
