Dead Horse Interchange

I don't know how anyone could still be bitter about Raiden after 16 years. It was an admirable attempt at making MGS bigger than its protagonist. Much better than the legacy character crap that they tried to push in subsequent games that ultimately led to Kojima rehashing the same twist in MGSV, only this time with a self-insert becoming yet another Snake.

Honestly MGS4 did more harm to Solid Snake's character than MGS2 ever did.

That's true but MGS3 did it much better. Character-wise, Big Boss was very different compared to Solid. People just didn't want to play bitchmade Jack. Not then, not now, not ever. Kojima had to turn him into Gray Fox 2.0 to make him passable and people still thought he was a stupid faggot. It needed Platinum and Rules of Nature on top of that for anybody to even call him okay.

I always thought Raiden was not too bad in MGS 2, he's no Solid Snake or Big Boss but still tolerable.
I got more annoyed with him at some points in MGS4

The whole Rose subplot didn't help. "Jack... you didn't have any furniture!!!!"

And has Raiden leaving all alone and she hooked with the colonel, that was really dumb and unnecessary and i mean even in MGS franchise that stands out to me as dumb

Then we got MGR and the glory that was God Emperor Armstrong. Best. Villain. Ever.

I like to think of Raiden in MGS2 as a nerdy, dorky teenager
I like to think of Raiden in MGS4 as an angsty teenager
Personally, I relate more to the former

She didn't hook up with the Colonel. Her marriage to Campbell was a ruse to keep the Patriots from fucking with Raiden's son in much the same way, I imagine, that they fucked with Sunny and Olga.
