Link's Cuckening and the Oracle of Waifus Duology are the perfect predecessors to the first Zelda game.
I kinda miss the extra buttons from A Simp to the Past, but it's nothing major, really.
It's a little less convenient having fewer buttons, but they did some great stuff with it. The two buttons being fully mappable to any weapon, including the sword, provided new opportunities for puzzle and dungeon design. Since you can't always have a sword out, you're sometimes put in situations where the best play is to use an unconventional weapon like the gloves+rock to remove an enemy in the middle of a puzzle.

And the rings from the Oracle games were extremely neato.

Link's Awakening remake looks like ass compared to the original btw.

I think Link's Sexual Awakening blew my mind after you got that item (a feather I think?) that let's you jump on command. Talk about changing the game.

Roc's Feather! (Or something)
That was neat but then they even put in sidescrolling sections like Zelda 2 (That was a game that existed, right?) and it had cute goombas in it.
You can bet that impressed me back in the day.
I guess what annoyed me the most in the remake was how dramatically some of the already annoying minigames changed.
Like a stupid crane game (Lordfat may have liked that one) now being highly physics based for some reason, or the fishing minigame becoming as boring as real fishing.

Sheeeat, you're right. Now I remember those side-scrolling sections.
There's even a bit where you have to open the way to a dungeon by dragging a Chain Chomp with you. Good times.

The sidescrolling sections in the game boy color zelda games were great. Man, game boy mario and zelda were both top of the line. Nintendo in general killed it during the game boy and gbc era.

Mario Land 2
Kirby Dream Land 2 (introduced all the animal buddies)
Link's Awakening
Wario Land 1
Bionic Commando
Poggermans

And then there were the games from other devs:

Faggon Quest 1, 2 and 3
Faggot Quest monsters 2
Saga 1, 2 and 3
Mega Man IV and V GB (V was all new)
Mana 1
Gargoyle's Quest
Kid Dracula

It was a great era to play shit on portable. And then GBA came out and gave us 3 CV iga games, 2 metroids and fire emblem that wasn't shit.

A modded GBA with a backlit screen is the best portable system out there.

The GOAt Sheldor waifu is Zedla herself.
That was my reaction when I heard about that murderapist that was recently executed.

V was prett darn ballsy for a classic Mega Man title.

You like Robot Masters? Fuck you, we have alien robots now, and they don't use your precious "Something Man" naming convention.

You like Charge Shots ? Fuck you, have a Rocket Punch instead.

You like Rush? Fuck you, here's a kitty cat.

Honestly is Mega Man the franchise that bred the least amount of autistic fans compared to Mario, Kirby, Zelda and so forth?
Which isn't saying much but maybe it is so because it's not that prevalent anymore.
Same for Seamus Aryan or whatever that game is actually called now.

Sam S. Arryn was so desparate for attention that she stole a NGE plugsuit, 'cause hotpants no longer do it for otakus.

I think what helped Mega Man was that it has always been a bit more exclusive than those other franchises. Bosses will generally tear you a new one if you're not careful and/or have the sub-weapon they're weak against.
I would say the franchise was in some danger during the X as it was Mega Man with more edge, but they have avoided going too autistic.
