I think X and Y had a similar one. And almost all of the GBA ones had a funny one were the in-game clock just stops working if you've been playing for too long.

And the game boy era would straight-up die and wipe your save data for no raisin. I'm not talking about the life cycle of the battery either. I'm talking about just randomly wiping your shit because the battery quality was garbage.

It is a proud tradition of the franchise. That slight chance of all your progress getting wiped really gets your adrenaline flowing.

(Also it's another incentive to subscribe to the Pokemon Bank service. Until that thing goes up in flames.)
