Games started to be shit after the ps2 era.
All that the following console generations really did was to showcase that 3D gaming was a terrible mistake.

Man, you fuckers are still salty over Microsoft winning a console gen.

There are a few games from last gen I like, much like all mediums its declined in the wake of the internet. Of course its worth remembering that literally everything was on consoles like the PS2 - so the ratio of good games to bad probably isn't much different from the 360 or Switch.

Basis for a semi decent Spoony bideo, I remember.

Third and last time I comment on Ultima Underworld, mostly because it's taken me this long to finish it. Overall thoughts: greatly enjoyed the experience of exploration and survival management. A misunderstanding nearly scuppered my playthrough(I wasn't aware of how important it is to get a certain set of Talismans - it's required to finish), but I can give the game some leeway due to its age and the fact that I played it over an extended period of time. It's the kind where you have to take notes on damn near everything. Something from way earlier can come back to bite you in the ass.

The levels are labyrinthine and varied, and with a multitude of character classes to choose from, I'd say it has a high replay value. I'll definitely try out the sequel at some point too. Will probably post about it in 2025 or something. As it is, Ultima Underworld is my favourite video game and the best thing Spoony's ever done for me is getting me to know about it(his review, as one might expect, is woefully incomplete). I have a passion for long games that really let you feel like you're in the environment and this is the best example for that. Although I just said there's levels, it's largely unlinear and you can go back and forth at will. There's a trading system, fishing, cooking.

But probably the best aspect is the unique societies that have developed within the Stygian Abyss. Learning lizard language, becoming a knight, negotiating with various factions of goblins - great stuff.
