Probably one of the best spin-offs. And it's probably easier to justify getting a new entry since it actually had a health bar (always dying in 2 hits is just not inclusive enough).

Controller from whichever console I'm emulating, or Xbone controller if I'm lazy. Thinking about getting a Switch Pro controller for PC use though.

I'm pretty much using a 360 controller for everything. Kinda forces you to always use the analogue stick instead of the D-Pad, though.

If a game doesn't need analogue triggers it's the best current one.
If you don't need analogue sticks either, go with the Pokken controller instead. I bet those are cheap now.
