Thanks for the info about top.

Another game I really wish would get a new game, and I think I've said this before, is darkstalkers. The arcade version they play at tourneys doesn't even have fucking donovan and pyron in it. I've been playing with Hsien-Ko and she's really fun. I love how all the characters have their own unique movement styles and gimmicks. Darkstalkers 3 is like the proto blazblue or skullgirls. Except skullgirls has too much mahvul in it.

Skullgirls by now is like everything that's wrong with Mahvel but worse.

I wouldn't say a new Darkstalkers would be a good idea, what with Current Capcom being Current Capcom.

I did say MVS, didn't I? Actual cartridge, actual Neo Geo MVS. I don't have the AES version because shit's expensive.
My MVS does have a custom chip, though, so I can chose when booting if the AES or MVS version and what language version is used. It's all the same ROM for NG games anyway. The console chooses what version is played. I don't remember altering the size of TOP ever not being enabled. You move the stick up or down to do it.
Huh, I think I need to check this out myself these days.

Also lol Forbes has a "Garou would be perfect for the Nintendo Switch"-article.

I'd check it myself if I had my Neo Geo here. I don't know why changing TOP size would not be possible in the MVS version. If I remember correctly, 1/3 is the largest it can be.

Skullgirls 1vs1 is actually fun, shame nobody plays that way EVER.

So after having access to version of SF2 that aren't the Vanilla edition, I have noticed that charge characters can have different charge times for each moves (specifically Bison whose knee press move requires an additional second or so). Thank God this didn't become the standard.

There was also random damage and stun as well, not to mention different stages had different speeds. SF2 was a broken mess.

All I remember from my time playing SF2 is getting annoyed at how matches were either sluggish because nobody could land a solid hit or they'd be over in a near instant because every hit landed did massive damage.

That's SF2. Nothing says classic fightan games like a normal throw that does 1/3rd of your health in damage and dizzies.

If we're comparing old shit, KoF '98 beats the pants off SF2.

So the damage is really that randomized? And here I was hoping this was just some unfair CPU advantage.
