Wait, I screwed up. It's not a parry, but a way to Just Defend while already in block stance.
So you can Just Defend during your opponent's combo / multi-hit attack.
Ah, so SF3 red parry.

The Gordan Ramsey "fucking raw!" popup on a raw super is hilarious!

So much great stuff in this character.

He has a victory pose where he throws his cap in the air and has it stolen by a goose.
The "yes/no" prompt on his "Are you okay?!" with different reactions depending on your choice.
Or the full Buster Vacation that sends the opponent flying through several games, ending with Terry kicking him at the beach for a post card shot.

Fagon Ballz: Tenkaichi 4 called out on the world stage as unbalanced trash. Punishing the players for learning the cheese is hilarious. Competitive games at the tourney level live by the rule of embracing meta and doing anything you can to win. The tourney allowed the cheese and then decided later it wasn't allowed. The organizers can't even catch players doing glitches to use items in tournament...

I think it's laughable in the first place that they'd try to prop up Sparkling Zero Sugar as a serious fightan gaem. Tenkaichi was a cool series but I'd go with Budokai IF I were going for a competitive tourney. Anime arena fighters are rarely competitive though. It's too difficult to balance the free movement and speed of the game without breaking something, plus competitive viability is never the priority for devs of these cash-in titles.

I've heard the MHA games are okay but I have less than zero interest in that franchise.

I believe the reason the story mode of Budokai Tenkaichi 3 was so shit compared to 2's was a (ridiculous) attempt to push the series in that direction, trying to get the fightan audience.
Budokai 2 was an action rpg, and the series should have remained like that.

Budokai 2 was peak. The point of those kind of anime fighters is to translate how the anime feels into a game and to let you play the parts of the anime that were most dramatic or interesting. It's the same reason I can tentatively recommend Narutard Storms 2-4. The action is fast, the games look good and they have your choice of official language with all the VAs. The games are not deep and they are not competitive. But they are fun to play. Naruto fucking sucks as an anime (outside of the Pain arc) but you can have fun with the Storm games.

I tried out that Demon Slayer vidya gaem a while ago and y'know what? Same thing as Storm (made by Cyberconnect2.) It's fine. Fun enough. Definitely not a competitive fighting game, but the story mode has some action-rpg stuff in it. I believe DBZ Xenoverse went even heavier into beat em up and rpg-lite mechanics.

Really, the idea of a competitive anime arena fighter is more of a pipe dream. I played Kill La Kill IF and the gameplay's fine, but the story was seriously abbreviated and lame. Game lacks content too. Basically a tech demo for what a KLK game would be if it had a solid foundation but zero budget (which tracks with the series itself.)

Not with that story mode.

Weeb gaymurs have always been butthurt over their favorite IPs only getting "dumb fun" games. Ever since at least that Kill La Kill game, they have tried to convince themselves more than the world that this time, everything's balanced, this time, the fighting game communtiy would take them seriously.

Really, animu arena fighter tournaments should just award points for coolness, and/or how closely they managed to replicate a fight from the series.

It's just not their market. Those games are for kids and that's perfectly fine.
For weebs into serious competitive fightan there are animu fighters like Guilty Gear.
