No, the main character is black haired guy, the red haired chick is one of the other characters you get along the way. The devs aren't just very good at marketing their game.

The game is basically combination of Freedom Force, NuXCom and anime. Freedom Force is capeshit game made in the early 2000s.

It reminds me of Freedom Force in the sense that characters have super powers, like lightning powers. The story/writing is quite anime, as the graaphics would indicate. There are some gameplay/lp videos in youtube which should give pretty good view of the game.
