No idea but I wasn't really talking about the regular ones. Word is the older ones were better but I wouldn't trust that.

The ones from the SNES era might be the best. Right after figuring out UIs and gameplay and shit, but before the modern cancer.

Seems to me like dragon quest is extremely overrated compared to other rpg franchises.

Something that I feel applies a lot to the 3D Final Fantasy games. People like it because it was the first series they ever played, despite just about every 3D FF being shit.

You'd be foolish if you would. A good 90% of them are really shitty games. An awful track record that's mostly kept alive by nostalgia and brand loyalty.
I struggle to think of any long-going series of vidya that has a worse track record.
