Never played IV (it's digital only in Europe so it doesn't work on a sky3ds+) so i don't know how he behaves in that one, but at least in Apocalypse he becomes everyone's punching bag the moment he appears.
What bummed me out about Apocalypse is that the teaser trailer made it look like Violence Jack, instead, if it wasn't for demons and angels killing people, it was like Persona 4.

EDIT: Also played some Giga Code Breaker. Certainly a different artstyle from mainline SMT, but I kinda think that one has more personality than the one they use for Persona. Though some of the fashion choices are a bit strange. The main waifu for example appears to run around in a bikini and an apron (though her tiny-ass in-game sprite also suggest a skirt, so whatevs).
She also appears to be a victim of emotional abuse, as her hacker friend keeps propagating a nickname for her which she never gave her consent on.
But don't you worry, Yuzu, I shall protect your honor. For you, and your two Yoohoos.
