I guess they're so good at modeling monsters and slashers that they've forgotten how to make normal people.

Re: What are you playing?
Some of it is likeness, like how all video games seem to prefer the shitty looking Jackie Earle Haley Freddy Krueger, but other times it’s sheer incompetence. The dude from that movie who they chose as a survivor came out looking like Gollum and he even offered to come to the studio and let them use his likeness to fix it.
I’m getting too old for this shitposting.

They are in an inescapable dimension of torture, all to have their endless suffering be consumed by some evil entity for its own, unknowable gain.ebin namefag wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 5:09 pmThey give money to DSP?Kugelfisch wrote: ↑Tue May 07, 2024 4:47 pmAll survivors in DBD look absolutely filthy and dented up close.
Meanwhile, DBD characters are just pixels in a video game. So they don't have it quite that bad.

Re: What are you playing?
Ok, this one is pretty good:
It's Wizardry with Typing of The Dead combat.
The hp of both the heroes and the enemies is represented by the letters in their names; the warrior has 4 of them, the thief, the bard and the witch have 3.
Leveling up consists in figuring out the names of each character's skills and memories; each character has more or less 60 different skills to unlock.
In order to do so, you have to loot letters (the main currency of the game) from the names of defeated enemies, opening chests and figuring out the object they contain (you have to type verbal commands and more likeable Spoony the Cryptmaster will perform actions with the object, giving you clues about what it is) and solving riddles at the skull altars (some are pretty hard, but maybe it's just because English isn't my first language).
The first skill of each hero has no cost, the other ones consume a mana-like resource that must be replenished by killing living enemies and/or collecting and eating bugs and critters from the walls of the dungeon.
The enemies have resistances and abilities that go from traditional stuff like "knockdown immunity" to things like "immunity to all skills which contain the letter b".
There are friendly npcs and sub-quests, and you can play card games with them.
The voice acting is surprisingly good, and until i meet a gender soup character who lectures me about privilege i'm fine.

>tfw I have to type "HIT" if you want your warrior to attack
This is less Typing of The Dead and more Wizardry with (more) text adventure controls. This sounds even more obtuse than the Legend of Grimrock controls.
