Warhammer Fantasy 2 - Magnetic Peekaboo is receiving some backlash for getting stealthily modernized for woker audiences.

So a third of the factions got axed to streamline the game of plastic rank & file soldiers, nevermind that we have 30 shades of Spaz Muhrines in the Sci-Fi setting no problem.

The purge includes factions that are a fan favorites for Warhammer, including Ratmen, Lizardmen and Chorfs (though the disciples of Hashut are conditioned to not getting support):

Curiously, the life support they received omit the army book entry for Skaven slaves, and although the POC Elves retain their warbeasts, they only ever mention being tamed instead of enslaved, hmmmm.

Also, the newest fanfiction gets review bombed for being woke up the ass, lul :

TBF the bigger crime is that we have yet to see any models fo Kislev or Cathay, even though the promotional material made them out to be among the starting factions.
I assume they wanted to play it safe and start this off carefully, to see how profitable it would be.

Would certainly explain some of the army choices. Tomb Kings and Bretonnia (the two poster armies for this first release) are famously not in Age of Sigmar (though some Bretonnian units can be used for Cities of Sigmar, which is AoS' garbage dump for human, dwarf and elf units they no longer actually support, and even that might go away now that they've started to release original models for the army). Dark Elves have also yet to return (unless you count Cities of Sigmar once again, or the Daughters of Khaine, but that is a very specific sub-faction of Dark Elves).
A lot of the army choices might also have to do with how many old models they still have in active use. I dunno about Lizardmen, Ogres and Daemons, but Skaven still have a lot metal and resin minis from the olden days.

You see, this is set centuries before the Warhammer Fantasy that you remember. It was a more enlightened and diverse time.

Can't be that ba-
If you ever wondered what a Netflix adaptation of Warhammer Fantasy might look like, then look no further. Graham McNeill has successfully stolen the Panderstone from Disney’s vaults to give us one of the most mediocre, canon breaking Black Library novels I’ve ever read, all while checking off every conceivable diversity checkbox imaginable. We have female knights, gay knights, deaf knights, crippled knights, and POC Damsels. Reading this novel made me long for the days when Black Library published novels with human children destroying Eldar grav tanks with sticks and stones.
Is that a reference to Warhammer Adventures  ?!

And did they call this book "Lords of the Lance" so they could smugly point out that ladies can be lords, too?

So, 18th century Europe?
Don't even mention this darkest of all times and places.
Unless you're adapting it for television, because then we can fill it with black people.

What makes this extra stupid is that one of their listed inspirations is 47 Ronin, whose series of events is kickstarted by the titular Ronin having their former master bullied into seppuku (or rather bullied until he blew a fuse and was then forced into seppuku to make up for the fuse-blowing). You can't even adapt this shit because suicide is haram in Rokugan, even if you want to cover the potential inustice of honorable an heroing like the actual fucking tale.

The absolute state of WotC
>announce your special 50th anniversary edition years in advance
>50th anniversary year comes
>announce your special edition extravaganza won't happen until the last quarter
>to the point the last of the core books won't come out until next year
Other notable announcements include planned cross-collaborations with Converse and Pop-Tarts, along with the D&D Lego set
At least I can wear my dragon shoes while eating mind flayer tarts and building my authentic D&D dungeon set!

At least we still can download past edition's books and use them to play. Tabletop RPG seems such a weird choice for "segment to completely alienate your customer base".

Not legally for long. I have a feeling they might pull a 4e with this and remove all of their previous books from digital distribution platforms (which ultimately only helped piracy and retroclones).

People can't give the shit company money for the version of their product that was good before they destroyed it? Good!

Piracy is a win-win situation in sich a case.
