Why even try to make games with any ambition? Look at any slapped-together animu RPG maker or visual novel shit on Steam. "Overwhelmingly Positive 96%" rating with reviews filled with faggots talking about their waifus.

Steam lies. "Mostly Positive" might mean 80% bad reviews slamming the game. You scroll down and see nothing but red thumbs down for pages and pages with the odd positive joke review going "would refund again 10/10" thrown in.

That's what the sakura series did for a long time, just threw together quick games with big titties because people bought them, either as jokes, or just to shit post reviews about lotion and tissues.

90% of games on steam now are just pure trash. Not even trolling or saying that every game I didn't personally like is garbage. What I mean is something like 9 out of 10 steam games are shovelware, meme games, hentai (paying for porn lel, ever) or dogshit indie bilge stuck in early access purgatory forever thanks to lazy devs.

I mean, why wait for your game to be finished if you can sell it now?!

This, personally, is what killed it for me the most. EVERYTHING is fucking Early Access now. I don't even browse the store anymore. Anything that caught my attention ended up being Early Access shit when I clicked on it.

I think the only thing that's not Early Access these days are console ports. At least those seem to have gotten better after the Dark Souls 1 days of "let the community fix this mess".

Steam was never particularly good in any significant manner; I don't know why muh pc master race sperges actually pretended this was a convincing meme in the first place. It was only very average, albeit always extremely overrated, throughout it's first decade of existence. Valve really shit it's own bed when they decided to pander to Reddit full time with the Muh indie vidya boondoggle scam from 2011 and onwards, and "upgrading" the community in such a way that it pretty much became a safe space for it's already insufferable, insular and shut-in userbase. A lot of users don't even use the Steam platform for gaming, but rather as a social media platform. Their daily "lives" unironically consists of larping either as antifa or /pol/tard trash, to put it lightly.

I also find it interesting that Valve are such inept entitled failures they won't even release their revenue figures, which is baffling considering they already hold an extreme monopoly in digital distribution and there isn't any reason to believe that will change anytime soon. Surely they can spend at least 2% of their gibs on cooking up a functional customer service. They're not even a Silicon Valley company; there is literally no excuse.

Sales? What are those? Oh yeah, only Reddit still pretends Steam sales are worth a shit. Valve should've kept the flash deals. Guess they don't want money from functional people who actually work and enjoy games.
