This time around I actually love that they have Itsjustass 2. Not because it's any better than it was last year. Oh no, it's still terrible. I love it because they took it over the newest Mahvul, which isn't even one year old. It wasn't dropped, it was never picked up.
Lol I just dimly remember that Mavuhl vs Crapcom Negative Infinity was even a thing

You mean the 12 year old brother evo winner? Yeah sure.
That's the kind of natural talent even Daigo can only dream of.

You're not the only one. Hadn't I watched Halls of Hype's Salt series I would've forgotten as well.
The sheer salt of the Capcuck drones shilling for that pile of garbage encrusted my screen in a thick layer of crystals when Evo announced that. I felt like Ahnold when he talks about feeling like cumming all the time because he's so swole.

I'm revisiting Soul Calibur 1 on Dreamcast and I don't get what the hype was. It's okay looking for the time, but it's one-dimensional and doesn't have much replay value; plus it doesn't have a rocking intro like Soul Blade did.

This is exactly how I felt when it came out 19 years ago. WTF is so deep about it? Dead Or Alive for the PSX was deeper than this glossy crap.

There's a good reason why nobody gives a fuck about it today. Soul Blade at least was the first game so it's got that for appeal. Soul Cal 2 is the best game in the series by far in every regard.

Soul cal 2 was almost arcade perfect for a console port, and as kugel said the game is just as fun to play today.

Soul Blade had that hot OP theme.
Does "arcade perfect" really mean anything in the PS2 era?

Everyone loved soul calibur 2. It had that good mix of being easy to get into but hard to master at high levels. Balance was pretty good too. Only a few characters really fell behind.

And it emulates extremely well via Dolphin at 1080p with crispy clean downscaled resolution from 4k.

It's also got online play. A true classic that won't ever die. Topping it off, it's a fantastic single player game as well. If you haven't played it for a good while, I highly encourage you to grab the GC version and Dolphin it. You won't regret it.

Looking at the Neo Geo games, it does.

I have the HD xbox 360 game and the gamecube one. It's full of great single-player modes, yeah. Super fun game.
