The baffling thing to me is that I never found Mumkey to be all that dangerously edgy. It's not like he's denying the Holocaust while wearing blackface and molesting children.

It's the reason why Youtube, Twitter, Facebook, etc. can legally get away with de-platforming anyone at anytime for any reason.

No, the reason they could do that is because they want to. Period. Those are all services owned by private entities who have no obligation whatsoever to host anyone else's shit.

Youtube can kick anyone off because the law gives them immunity to do so, not because it's a private entity. Youtube is a business and private businesses are subject to all sorts of laws, particularly when it comes to discrimination. The problem is that the present laws are from twenty years ago when social media didn't exist let alone social media being a way to make a living.

The current laws treat Youtube like it's a 90s-era chatroom or something, when ideally it should be treated like the business that it is. If the laws were up to date deleting someone's channel that's making money, and when the user isn't doing anything illegal, would absolutely expose Youtube to a lawsuit.
