Is it seriously that easy to mine for bitcoin? How does it work to put a miner on a webpage? Is it just a chance at it once someone clicks to load the page? Do they really think they can bring in that volume of site traffic anymore?

Given what I know about it, its scarcity increases over time. If they had done it years ago, then maybe.
But now--with fewer clicks and the more remote chance to get fewer bitcoins--it isn't just something that reeks of desperation. It's downright laughable. It's like seeing something added to grandpa's webpage because he heard it was cool.

Some normies that I know have started watching James videos that aren't Nerd related. His movie reviews mostly. Kind of odd to see. James seems like a nice enough guy though.

Of all the Internet 'reviewers' out there, his is arguably the most qualified. Since he went to film school, has been making movies all his life, and actually financed and filmed and screened his own work.
(Was it shit? Yes, but that's beside the point).

He also strikes me as the guy who would ditch Youtube if some studio actually offered him the money to work full time. Probably has been already. He really should, with wife and several kids on the way. (He could also teach, or something else).
Only reasons I could see him turning them down and continuing what he has been doing are (1) an independent artistic streak some directors have and insist on having, or (2) Mike holding some kind of ransom over his life and work, since he knows its over for him if James leaves.

Not too odd since he's always been a big fan of horror and giant monster movies. And thankfully his opinions are sane, and he doesn't meander about how DEEP the Gozilla lore is. It's just entertainment for him.
