MST3K was good when it was novel. A time when TV was awful sitcoms, and melodrama night time soaps. Even cable TV kinda sucked back then.

Yeah that sums it up pretty good. Although I would argue that Mike and crew are significantly better at it than Doge, even at his peak, and WAY better than blokes like Linkara. They're more like Spoony at his peak, and he was the most genuinely funny IN before he decayed into the oily bitter husk he is today.

They are charismatic. Given the right movie it's worth watching but it's very, very hit and miss.
It's like watching shit movies with some friends. Some require beer, some require weed, some (like "Hobo with a shotgun") are just plain unenjoyable garbage no matter what you do.
