I don't really understand why the mainstream left has picked up on this meme of all memes. And I don't understand why they give so much oxygen to shitposting. I'm left wing as it gets and I don't take anything I read on 4chan seriously. It's just shitposting. Yet I read a Guardian article last week about the reaction to Taylor Swift's political post that unironically quoted a /pol/ post. For all the pronoun-respecting and cultural awareness and hip young kids, massive chunks of the left just cannot fathom shitposting.

It's narcissism. They take themselves extremely seriously and any time they make a political "joke", first of all it's always a personal attack, and second of all they think they're saying something that's actually true on some level and insightful and profound. "Ha ha ha, but seriously, Drumpf is a Nazi!" They assume everyone else is the same way.

Because these kind of people are by and large mass media drones who react without thinking in politics, entertainment, and their personal lives. The meme calls attention to how predictable and automatic their responses are. It's like one of those pastors who graphically describes gay sex acts to his audience to disgust them with how sinful teh gay is, and then someone says, "Gee, you've watched an awful lot of gay porn, huh?" and he gets flustered.

Like I said, the left gets the most upset about memes that are true. That's why they chimped the fuck out over being called cucks, fake news and it's also why they get really fucking salty when you keep pointing to pedos in their midst.

It's not even unique to them. Catholics get really butthurt when you bring up the child molestation thing. It hurts because it's true.

It's not insulting if someone calls me a currynigger or misogynist because I know it's not true. I don't need to spend a lot of time saying "buh-buh-but my skin isn't dark and I totally have female friends!" When someone on an imageboard shits on you for something that doesn't describe you, it hardly needs to be said there's nothing easier to do than ignore it.

The left gets so upset about these memes because they are true. The urban shitlib male generally IS a cuck and IS an npc. I can even link to that Dan Harmon idiot describing literal cuckoldry in one of his poetry jams and being turned on by it. These are people who consume way too much mass media, to the point their entire personalities are formed around mass media. They've become robots who spit out trite responses to expected stimuli, and living in a liberal bubble only makes the problem worse.

To some extent, everyone could be considered a drone compared to a more original or insightful person. But they get so upset because they know how shallow and vapid they fucking are. Marzgurl is a peak female example.

There are two reasons for this:
1) It's the Guardian. Everything shit comes out of the Guardian
2) They're not actually confused by shitposting. They pretend to be for clicks. Going all the way back to the Fox News report, you can write the most sloppily written, poorly researched piece of drivel article about 4chan and nobody will check it. Nobody will even bother to try and check it. Since anonymous imageboards where anyone can post anything they want cannot by definition be 'defamed' they're low hanging fruit for hack journalists (read: all journalists)
