People love to take outrage to stupid shit written on the internet. By rushing to let everybody know that they're so above the stupid shit, they're prone to ignore possible sarcasm and irony whenever they see fit.
That's what Twitter is, in a nutshell: a platform for people to feel smarter and more virtuous than they really are.
