I think he's just shitting on Western animation, like most weebs like to do. Which is fine for shows like Steven Universe, but for a show that not only had top notch writing and acting, but also had Brad Bird (a former Disney animator, mind you) overseeing the storyboards, then you're full of shit.

Yeah, the sitcoms where the family is all friendly with each other was so plastic and fake, The Simpsons, especially initially, was closer to a real American family. Bart being strangled and Marge constantly nagging was a potshot at the perfect parents in sitcoms that were still stuck in the 50s.

Actual sitcoms after The Simpsons until reality TV killed them changed dramatically and were written to be more modern.

The weird thing is, sitcoms were starting to get a little bit better in the 1970s and took more risks. Look at All in the Family and The Jeffersons. Or Simpsons producer Brook's own sitcoms The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Taxi.

And then it's like sitcoms slid back into the 50s again during the 80s with saccharine garbage like Growing Pains, Charles in Charge, Webster, and Full House. The Simpsons was part of a rebellion against The Cosby Show sitcom culture.
